Today, in before school language arts with my 8th graders, I had them Read “Us and Them” by David Sedaris because it’s funny and not entirely boring (although the stories in our text are by legit authors).

Anyway, when we get to the part where young David is stuffing his face with his Halloween chocolates so he doesn’t have to share them, I was trying so hard not to laugh. When we paused and I asked if they thought it was funny, one of my students said “I mean, it would be in like a movie or something.”

Then I died.
